Solar Photovoltaic (PV)
Specialized Solar Products for Every Need
Green Power Solutions sources top-of-the-line solar products from various Canadian alternate
energy distributors to ensure that the most cost-effective, reliable systems are available to
our customers. We have the knowledge and experience required to help you select products that have proven to offer the best value resulting in the highest return on investment. Our systems meet the Ontario Content criteria.
Our Solar Powered (photovoltaic) Systems include:
- Flat Roof or Fixed Ground Systems – which are a frame mounted solar panel system set on a flat roof or on concrete blocks placed directly on the ground. This system will produce up to 9.6kW/h for an approximate average of 4-4.2 hours of sun per day in optimal yearly conditions.
- Tilted Roof Mount Systems – which are solar panels mounted on aluminum tracks and fastened to the south facing roof of a structurally sound building. This system will produce up to 9.6kW/h for an approximate average of 3.8-4 hours of sun per day.
- Sun Tracker Systems – which are solar panels mounted on a tracking device which follows the sun to produce maximum energy production per day. With dual axis trackers, the Sun-tracker can provide 40% greater efficiency over a fixed or roof mount system in aiding to capture an average of 5.6 - 6 hours of sun per day.
How It Works
Initiate a solar energy project through either the FIT or MicroFIT program and the Ontario government through the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) will pay you for the energy
you generate.
Here’s how it works.
Groupings of solar PV (photovoltaic) panels are organized into a configuration called an array that converts sunlight into DC electricity. An Inverter then takes the DC power generated by the array and converts it into an AC output suitable for connection to the local utility.
The electricity runs through your utility meter.
The reading from this meter determines the amount of your payment from the OPA.
Individuals are able to monitor their power output through the internet or remote monitoring software via the Inverter.
Initiate a solar energy project through either the FIT or MicroFIT program and the Ontario government through the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) will pay you for the energy you generate.
The Financial Benefits of Renewable Energy Production
Thanks to Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) programs established by the Ontario Government through the Ontario Power Authority (OPA), it is easier then ever to generate passive income through a Solar PV System.
Even systems producing 10kW or less can see a good return by participating in the OPA’s MicroFIT program, with a high premium of 80.2 cents per kW/h and a 20 year term fixed rate.

* The original Feb., 2009 OPA proposal indicates that the micro-FIT program has a production cap of 1-2% of Ontario's total electricity needs.
Although fluctuations in efficiency do occur due to uncontrollable environmental factors such as day length, cloudiness, ambient temperature, etc., you can estimate an annual return on investment range of:
Fixed/Roof System ROI = 13-15%
Tracking System ROI = 14–16%
Pricing and Warranties
There is a wide range of systems available to fit all needs and budgets. The break-even cost analysis on these systems can be as short as 6.5 years. We guarantee very competitive pricing and we offer multiple project discounts and rebates through our Customer Referral Program. Let our experienced staff help you determine what would be right for you. Most of our solar panels have a 25-year performance warranty backed by some of the most reputable brands who are committed to a long future in the industry. The Inverters are also manufactured by top alternate energy manufacturers and most have a 10 year warranty. Purchasing an extended warranty is available on most brands of Inverters for added protection on your investment. The Mounting Frame for a fixed system carries a 20 year warranty. And Sun-Trackers have a minimum 3 year warranty which can be extended to 20 years with the enrolment in our maintenance contract*. * Sun-Tracker annual maintenance contract is $500/year + mileage if outside the Greater City of Sudbury.
